TYE CURRICULUM

TYE Global recommends a Course Curriculum that spans 9 months, from September to April of the next year (check with your local chapter for the specific dates). The Curriculum incorporates both theory and practical aspects of learning about entrepreneurship. It culminates with a Global Entrepreneurship Competition at the end of the school year, in June.

Students learn about Design Thinking, which provides a solution-based approach to solving problems. It’s extremely useful in tackling complex problems that are ill-defined or unknown, by understanding the human needs involved, re-framing the problem in human-centric ways, creating many ideas in brainstorming sessions, and adopting a hands-on approach in prototyping and testing.

The lean canvas model is a business model template that allows you to organize your business plan logically. Typically used for startups, the lean canvas business model has 9 building blocks: Unique Value Proposition, Unfair advantage, Channels, Customer Segmentation, Problem, Solution, Key Metrics, Cost Structure, and Revenue Streams.

Startup success can be engineered by following the process, which means it can be learned, which means it can be taught.
- Eric Ries
Founder and Executive Chairman, LTSE

The program starts with 8 sessions on Entrepreneurship and Leadership. The students then brainstorm an idea and prepare for a Global Entrepreneurship Competition under the guidance of an expert mentor. Teams first compete at the regional level, and the winning team gets the opportunity to compete in the TYE Global Finals for cash prizes and recognition.

The first part of the program is focused on the professional development of each participant. By starting with the development of the individual before the ongoing development of the companies, each participant can nurture a professional persona that they can leverage during the program.

Professional Communication

Creating a LinkedIn profile

Conducting an informational interview

Building a professional network

The program then enters a stage where participants pitch ideas, form teams and build companies. By leveraging the experiential learning environment created by building a company, participants grow their professional competencies while also taking an idea and creating a viable startup. The finalized curriculum and dates for each cycle are announced at the beginning of the program year and past topics have included:
